Our founder and clinical director:

Cortney is a pediatric speech-language pathologist and credentialed infant/early childhood mental health consultant with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She is a DIR/Floortime® Expert Clinician, Tutor, and Trainer, serves as Assistant Faculty and in a curriculum design role at Profectum Academy, and is Adjunct Faculty at Erikson Institute, where she built and teaches Developmental Intervention in Language and Cognition in the Early Intervention master's program. She leads the clinical vision at Grove Communication Therapy and mentors clinicians, educators, and therapy teams across the Chicago area.

Cortney earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California, Irvine, completed post-baccalaureate study in communication sciences and disorders at California State University, Long Beach, and earned her master's degree in communication disorders from Northwestern University. She began her career in the Illinois early intervention system, then spent several years at a multidisciplinary clinic focused on the DIR/Floortime® approach. In 2013, she founded Grove Communication Therapy to continue integrated, tailored work with families.

 

Driven by a career-long passion for relationship-based work, Cortney completed a certificate and fellowship in DIR/Floortime® through Profectum, becoming a trainer and expert clinician in the model in 2019. She completed Erikson Institute's Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health program in 2022 and is a credentialed I/ECMH consultant through the Illinois Association for Infant Mental Health.

Cortney currently offers comprehensive evaluations, direct therapy services, parent coaching, consultation for private therapy teams and clinics, and professional mentoring, training, and speaking.

Dena Rosen, MS CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Dena graduated with her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and earned her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Midwestern University-Downer’s Grove. She has always loved working with kids and feels fortunate to support them as they grow and find their voices. Dena’s areas of interest include early language development, social communication, and play-based therapy approaches. She enjoys creating fun, supportive, and individualized sessions that help kids feel confident and excited to communicate. Outside of work, she loves being outdoors, playing games with friends, and spending quality time with her family.
